Abstract
The infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 affects the structure of different organs such as the heart, kidney and lungs. This damage can be detected by means of clinical laboratory tests. The present work is a bibliographic review that attempts to provide biochemists with an update of the characteristics of the biomarkers D-Dimer and procalcitonin, their diagnostic methods and clinical utility, both in the diagnosis and follow-up of COVID-19 patients.
